The Class

Cook With A Sunset View

This is the authentic Balinese cooking class in the most spectacular view. You cook five dishes from scratch with a friendly, patient expert cooking teacher — grinding the spice paste, wrapping the satay, learning why every dish starts with the same base gede — while the sun drops behind the mountains in front of you.

We offer a variety of cooking class options to enhance your satisfaction, so you can explore the pleasure of cooking with our wide range of classes. Three hours in the kitchen, then one hour of dinner: everything you made, eaten in a romantic and peaceful evening mountainous view. We pick you up from your hotel and drop you back after.

You choose the dishes

Pick five from soup, grilled, steamed, deep fried and dessert — vegetarian works too.

Direct sunset view

The kitchen faces west over the valley. Class starts 05.30pm so you cook through golden hour.

Patient local teacher

A friendly Balinese cook who explains every step in English and never rushes you.

Pickup and drop back

Balinese Menu

Choose Your 5 Dishes

Everything below is on the table. Pick five dishes across the groups — most guests take one soup, one grilled, one steamed, one fried and a dessert.

Bowl of Balinese vegetable soup served with rice Soup

Balinese Soup

Where every class starts. You build the base gede — the spice paste behind almost everything Balinese — then turn it into soup.

  • Jukut Jepang — pumpkin soup
  • Jukut Nangka — jackfruit soup
  • Kare Ayam — chicken curry
Skewers of Balinese satay grilling over charcoal Grilled

Balinese Grilled

Charcoal work. You mould satay onto lemongrass sticks by hand and wrap fish or chicken in banana leaf before it hits the grill.

  • Sate Lilit — chicken coconut satay
  • Sate Ayam — chicken satay
  • Pepes Ayam — chicken wrapped grill
Indonesian gado gado salad of mixed steamed vegetables with peanut sauce Steamed

Steamed & Mixed Vegetable

The vegetable side of a Balinese table — grated coconut, long beans, and a peanut sauce you grind yourself. All three work as vegetarian.

  • Gado Gado — mixed vegetables
  • Urab — Balinese longbean salad
  • Tum Ayam — chicken wrapped steam
Indonesian dishes served together on a table Deep Fried

Balinese Deep Frying

The easy crowd pleasers, and the ones children in the group always want to make. Crisp outside, soft in the middle.

  • Perkedel Jagung — corn fritter
  • Perkedel Kentang — potato fritter
  • Loteng Ayam — mixed chicken & coconut

Dessert & Drinks

Welcome drinks are poured the moment you arrive. Finish the class with something sweet.

  • Pisang Goreng — fried banana

Banana in a light batter, fried crisp and eaten hot. The classic Balinese dessert.

  • Dadar Gulung — Bali pancake

Green pandan crêpe rolled around coconut and palm sugar. Made by hand, one at a time.

  • Welcome Drinks

Bali coffee, Bali tea, or spice tea — included, and poured before the knives come out.

  • Local Alcoholic Drink

Optional arak or local beer with dinner. Just say the word when you book.

Common Questions

Is Rp 500.000 per person?

Yes — IDR 500k per person, with a minimum of 2 people per class. That covers hotel pickup and drop back, welcome drinks, all ingredients, cooking five dishes, and the dinner afterwards.

Do you pick us up from the hotel?

Yes, free pickup and drop back is included — but only within the Munduk area. If you are staying outside Munduk (Ubud, Canggu, Seminyak, etc.), please ask for pickup options when you book.

Can you cook vegetarian dishes?

Easily. Jukut Jepang, Jukut Nangka, Gado Gado, Urab and both perkedel are all vegetarian, and the dessert menu is too. Mention any allergies when you book and we adjust the shopping list.

How long does the whole evening take?

Three hours of cooking plus one hour of dinner, starting at 05.30pm and running until finish — so expect to be back at your hotel mid evening. Bring a light layer, the mountain air cools down after dark.

How far in advance should we book?

Booking a day before is required, so the market shopping can be done fresh on the day of your class. Please kindly text or call for more info, or if you want a date further ahead.
